CREATIVE WRITING & SCHOOLS Cover Art Competittions 2021

We are pleased to announce that we are going to run another Cover Art Competition for Royston Schools and also another Creative Writing Competition in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Royston.

Given the success of last year’s competition and some continuing uncertainty over Covid our artist Stacey-Leigh Ross (By Leigh) will again select work from digital images of artwork created by schoolchildren based on our festival theme. The resulting artwork will be displayed on the front cover of the September edition of The Listing magazine which will also contain the 2021 festival programme.

This year’s theme is ‘Renewal’ and in line with the word’s meaning lies the hope that we will be ‘starting again’ where necessary, ‘continuing’ where we left off, or better still ‘improving’ our lives from lessons learned during the Covid pandemic. Stacey has put together an ‘Ideas Map’ to help potential artists interpret the theme, and also any authors who choose to base their story on the theme. Click HERE to view that.

Click on the respective Competition posters on the left to view entry details and access the Terms and Conditions and entry forms for the Creative Writing Competition. You can also see last year’s completed Cover Art on the left created by Stacey from  the selected entries which was used on the front cover of The Listing containing the 2020 programme.

Event submissions – Deadline extension

Owing to the difficulties faced by individuals and groups in planning events in the current situation, Creative Royston is extending the deadline for their ‘event submission’ process and seed-funding applications for the 2021 Royston Arts Festival for another 4 weeks until Friday 28th May. As the signs seem to be that things are opening up in line with the Govt ‘road map’ we hope this will encourage our colleagues in arts and crafts groups in and around Royston and from further afield to add to the live events already submitted for the 2021 festival.

Anyone who may have ideas for an event is invited to submit their proposals and apply for seed-funding, if appropriate, and subject to a separate application process.  Details of how to submit an entry and also how to apply for seed-funding can be found on the Organise an Event page.

You can still help us to choose events, exhibitions and workshops that you might be interested in by taking our quick survey (2 minutes + a little bit more if you have any suggestions) and let us know your views. That would be a BIG help, thank you!
