Royston Photographic Society Exhibition

Members’ photographs: a wide-ranging exhibition with an open theme. Also, new for this year, there will be the chance to see the winning entries in our town-wide competition, Crossing the Line.

2011 Face of RoystonFace of Royston

Your chance to be part of the Face of Royston (now in its third year). Members of the Royston Photographic Society will be taking photographs of people in Royston town centre, whether visitors or locals. Pictures will be displayed on a large TV at the Market Hill Rooms and in the town centre. Last year the number of pictures exceeded 1000.

Almost 400 original art works for sale, plus the opportunity to vote for your favourite painting in the Johnson Matthey Best Picture Award. Featured Artist, Josie Camus, will be drawing caricatures of the visiting public. Refreshments served all weekend.

A rainbow of colour and design…Priory Quilters is a group of creative individuals from a variety of textile backgrounds. This exhibition includes a sale of members’ work. Crossing the AD/BC Line

Five paired images. Compare how humans saw themselves in the earliest prehistoric cave paintings and how we see ourselves today: what does it mean to be human, why do we make images and what do the images we make say about our societies?
There will also be a short discussion based on these images on Sunday, 4.30 – 5pm.

Tony Reed, Executive producer of CBeebies will present a short film on the making of the BAFTA award winning show Zingzillas and answer your questions. NOT SUITABLE FOR FOR UNDER 8s.

What does “Crossing the Line” mean to you? Be creative during the summer holidays: paint a picture and enter this competition with a chance to win a prize. There are three age groups: under 9s,  9-13s and over 13s. Entry forms can be found at http://www.royston-methodist.org.uk/.  All entries will be displayed and judged by local artist by local artist Nicola Hancox.

Art which portrays five episodes in the life of Jesus, exploring how he crossed the line. Pieces in various media from members of local churches, alongside other artists’ interpretations of these events.
