Big Make

Come and join the Young Curators and Youth Members and help in creating a “Big Make” – a large paper mache and chicken wire sculpture based on the theme of illumination, which will then go on display in the museum, suspended from the ceiling.

Art and the Science of Light

The Friends of Tannery Drift School have organised a series of workshops for children and adults around the theme of science and art, showing how optical scientific tools have enabled art to evolve and how artists have adopted new scientific tools as a new medium. Refreshments will be available.

Mixed Media Art

Sandra Scott Mixed Media Workshop

£5 per person. Mainly aimed at 13-18 year-olds but suitable for all ages 10 and upwards. 10 to 12 year-olds must be accompanied and supervised by a paying adult. Pre-booking recommended.
Join textile artist Sandra Scott in a workshop to create wonderful mixed media art. She will share her techniques for creating exciting textures, transparent layers and illuminating effects. With basic art materials like Gesso, masking tape, stencils, resists and a range of colour mediums, you will learn how to transform any surface into a beautiful art background for further development or as a stimulating abstract piece of art.
The aim of the session is to encourage you to explore these techniques further. You will also have fantastic pieces of art which can be kept as examples or framed for display. http://www.santextileart.com/

Description: During this workshop you will make a 10cmsq stained glass mosaic tile to take away. Have fun choosing glass from a wide variety of vibrant coloured glasses, which you will use to create your own design for a tile. Your tutor, Jill Fordham, will provide plenty of ideas and designs for inspiration. The workshop is suitable for all ages from the age of 6 upwards but children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a paying adult. Description: You will be deLIGHTed when you have created this pretty floral bouquet with simple gift wrap. Just bring a strong pair of scissors and an apron if you would like to protect your clothes. Helen Allen has many years of experience in floral design with her creations appearing in international magazines. She won ‘student of the year’ for her ANC floristry exam. Adult pottery painting evening using specialist glaze

Join in painting spherical or heart shaped tealight holders. We will discuss and use a specialist glaze called jungle gems to give a beautiful glaze effect. You will have time to paint a set of tealight holders if you wish. The evening will run as a workshop so prompt arrival would be appreciated.
