Photography Competition


This competition is run by Royston Photographic Society and is open to people 15 years or over.

Send us a photograph you have taken of your ‘Hero or Villain’. Be as imaginative as you like; you could dress up as your own superhero or dastardly character.  Whatever the photograph, have fun, get involved – and you could WIN our competition.

Submit your digital entry and tell us why you have chosen to take your picture via email tohvcomp2014@gmail.com

Winners will be rewarded with a canvas print of their image which will be displayed at Royston Photographic Society’s exhibition at Royston Town Hall.www.roystonphotographicsociety.co.uk

Royston Fringe
2011 Royston Fringe 21Art Competition

This competition is run by the Royston Fringe (Royston Methodist Church) and is open to all under 18 year olds.  ‘Heroes & Villains’ is this year’s subject for you to paint, draw or model.

There are 3 age groups: under 8, 8-11 and 12-17. Entry forms can be found at http://www.royston-methodist.org.uk/.

All entries will be displayed, and judging will be by the well-known artist and lecturer, Anthony Slinn.  Prizes and certificates in all groups will be presented by Royston Town Mayor on Sunday afternoon.

Photography Competition Rules
1. The theme for the competition photographs is ‘Heroes or Villains’.
2. The competition is open to all (except members of Royston Photographic Society).
3. The competition is open to entrants who are 15 years or over.
4. A person may submit only one entry.
5. Entries must not have been published previously and must be the entrant’s own work.
6. The photograph may be submitted as a . jpg image.
7. Entries may be submitted by email to hvcomp2014@gmail.com
8. All entries should be submitted with a daytime contact telephone number and a few words to explain why the subject of the photograph is your hero or villain.
9. Entries can be submitted from 1 July 2014.
10. Closing date for entries is midnight 17 September 2014.
11. Winners will be notified by email/telephone during the weekend of the 20 September.
12. Entries will be available to view during the Royston Arts Festival, 27-28  September 2014.
13. Entrants must keep an original electronic file, that may be requested by the judges.
14. Royston Photographic Society does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or delay to entries however caused.
15. The prize is a canvas print of the winning photograph.
16. The judges’ decisions are final.

Fringe Art Competition Rules

1. The theme for the competition is ‘Heroes & Villains’.
2. The competition is open to all entrants who are under 18 years of  age.
3. One entry per young person is allowed.
4. For group entries (schools, uniformed organisations, etc.) there is a  group entry form. On this the teacher or adult in charge should list all the  entries from that group – names and ages.  We also need a daytime telephone  number for the teacher or adult in charge to alert them to any winners from  their group, to pass on the good news and invite the winners to the prize giving  ceremony.
5. For individual entries there is an entry form requiring name, age,  address, telephone number and the parent’s / guardian’s approval signature, and it can be found at: http://www.royston-methodist.org.uk/
6. All entry forms must be returned by the deadline of Wednesday 24 September.
7. All entries must be delivered to the Methodist Church hall between 8 and 10am on Friday 26 September 2014.  No larger than A4 format is preferred.
8. Alternative arrangements must be agreed in advance with the organisers – call  01763 241217.
9. Judging will take place in the evening of Friday 26 September, the judge  being Professor Anthony Slinn.
10. Winning entries in all 3 age groups will be indicated throughout the weekend by  rosettes.
11. The display of all entries will be available to view on Saturday 27 September  from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 28 September from 12noon to 4.30pm.
12. The prizes will be presented by the Royston Town Mayor at 4pm on Sunday 28 September 2014.
13. The prizes have been donated by businesses in  Royston.
14. All  entrants will receive a small certificate.
15. Any prize winners who were not able to attend the ceremony will be notified by  the organisers during the following week.
16. All entries must be collected from the hall following  the prize giving, at 4.30pm on Sunday 28 September 2014.
17. If artwork is not collected the organisers will attempt to return it during the  following week.
18. Royston Methodist Church does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or  delay to entries however caused which may occur while at the church.
19. The  judge’s decision is final.
