Heroes and Villains of the Bible

An exhibition of artwork depicting famous heroes and villains of the Bible. Exhibits include contributions from many local schools and children’s clubs, along with works by other local artists. Subjects include Noah and the flood, Jonah and the whale, David and Goliath and the Nativity. Cream teas will be for sale on Saturday afternoon from 2- 5pm with proceeds going to cHALLenge (Church hall fund). There will be a Fairtrade stall with crafts and foods from around the world, open all day Saturday.

‘Pop up’ exhibition of costume design

A chance to see the work of the late Richard Croft, costume designer for BBC drama whose work includes Blackadder. His sketches will be on display for the festival so come down and see his wonderful creations. You might even be inspired to draw your own.

Middle Schools’ exhibition

Artwork by the wonderfully creative pupils from Roysia and Greneway Schools. Taking the Heroes and Villains theme as inspiration, pupils have let their imaginations run riot to create fantastical characters of their own. Working with the museum curator the exhibition has been developed, designed and installed by the Young Curators of 2014.

Art Exhibition

Works by artists from Royston and the nearby villages. Wander round the many exhibits, sit and have a rest, and maybe a cup of tea and a slice of home-made cake.  The exhibition is open to all-comers and includes a widely diverse range of styles and media and many of the pieces are for sale.  It’s a short walk from the centre of town but well worth it.  On-street parking is available all weekend in Queens Road.

Heroes & Villains competition display

A display of the paintings from this year’s annual competition for young people from local schools, scouts, guides and youth clubs: the artists of the future.  The competition is in three age groups: under 8, 8–11, and 12–17 years old.  Judging is on Friday evening and the winning entries will be marked with rosettes.  The Mayor of Royston will join us on Sunday at 4pm for the prize-giving ceremony, and all entrants receive a certificate.  Tea, coffee and home-made cakes are available.

Annual Exhibition

Royston Arts Society is a thriving group of over one hundred local people who regularly meet to paint, watch artist demonstrations and socialise. The highlight of their year is this premier exhibition. Vote for your favourite picture, sponsored by Johnson Matthey plc, and also for our special display of paintings based on this year’s festival theme. Tea and home-made cakes will be served all day, with all proceeds donated to MacMillan Cancer Support, Biggest Coffee Morning in the world!

View diverse photographic works from members of Royston Photographic Society. Members will be happy to discuss the images on display and talk anything photographic. The exhibition may even kick-start a passion of your own as creating art through photography is both rewarding and addictive!
