Creative Royston are thrilled to announce that Royston Arts Festival 2024 is extending its dates to run from Friday 20th September to Saturday 5th October and will now include Barkway Literary Festival.
There is still time for local organisations and creative businesses to get involved by submitting their entries by Sunday 30th June – for more details click HERE.
Barkway Literary Festival hosts a variety of authors and workshops, with something for every taste. Local wordsmith, Jude Simpson will be chairing events as authors talk about their life, new books and career. Join them afterwards in the marquee in the garden for book signings and refreshments.
Workshops for children, screenwriters and podcasters will be taking place throughout the day with the authors. Find out more by clicking on the icon to the right.
We are thrilled to announce that MEGSON will be opening Royston Arts Festival with a performance in St John The Baptist Church in Melbourn Street, Royston as part of their 20th anniversary tour.
Come and enjoy an evening with the dynamic musical duo on Friday 20th September, doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start – there will be a CASH (only) bar.
MEGSON comprise Debs Hanna (Vocals, Whistle, Piano Accordion) and Stu Hanna (Guitar, Mandola, Banjo) and are four times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and double winners of the Spiral Earth Awards and they draw heavily on their Teesside heritage to create a truly unique brand of folk music.
The husband & wife duo bring an infectious mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars and have gained fame on the British folk scene, not only for their arresting & intelligent songwriting, but also for their exquisite musicianship and northern humour.
The most original duo on the British folk scene. THE GUARDIAN.
Have you published a book? Whether traditionally or independently published, Creative Royston invites you to Royston Arts Festival 2024 for a celebration of local writers!
On Saturday 28th September, we will be hosting a book fair – an opportunity to talk about and sell your book. With signings and readings, we would love to celebrate what you’ve achieved and help you to find new readers.
Everyone’s invited! Whether you write fiction or non-fiction, poetry or prose; whether you write for children, adults or anyone in between; whether you’ve sold 20 copies or 20,000…
If you’re interested in being a part of the fair, please contact Phil Oddy – philoddy@creativeroyston.org for more information
